This was a summer of trying new things for me. I went on my first holiday on my own; took the children to the UK for the summer adventure instead of a hot sunny location (loved Snowdonia, didn't love the rain!); and I have been to two summer camps to find more in person connections. I work from home, have set up my own business this year and more than ever, keeping connected to people is key on this journey.
So...the Happy Start Up School summer camp - 150 people coming together with the goal of sharing ideas, listening to stories, being inspired, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, celebrating life, asking for help and giving support and having fun.
Key stand out points for me were:
This really was camping. Waking up to a gorgeous view of English countryside on a working farm. Sharing a tent with two wonderful women I had never met before but who became friends in such a short time. Putting on make up with the tiniest mirror in a tent - these are the moments that bond you!
Helping each other - The "What do you need" board
This was one of the ideas at the camp that I loved. A way to share what you need with the fellow campers (plus a name with a photo which helped at times). It was a conversation starter, it enabled connections to develop and best of all, a way to offer help to someone else.
I found my tribe. I also made new friends. I have new business ideas. I feel a confidence that everything will work out even if I don't know all the answers now because I am now going to follow my dreams and passions and I am supported by a whole bunch of crazy people along the way.
